Helpful Tips

Hilt Construction:

-You will need a 1.5mm allen wrench in order to tighten the set screws in your hilt for blade and light retention.

-Your hilt is compatible with any 1” diameter blades including 1” stemmed Ripper Blades! (Like their Darksaber Blade)

-Since these hilts are plastic you can drill into them should you want to install a Covertech wheel (can be purchased through the Custom Saber Shop online) of a D-ring to mount the hilt onto a belt. Drill slowly and be sure to keep the bit level.

-Some of your threads have Teflon tape on them to provide a nice tight fit so they will not come loose once assembled. If you want any of the threads to be even tighter just add more!

-Your pieces have been fitted with care to ensure that all the pieces align properly and have a snug fit!

-If you have any pieces that need to be glued onto your emitter use liquid super glue (not gel), these separate pieces allow for better quality and strength of the parts. Be sure to keep a clean surface where you will apply glue should you choose to paint before assembly, as paint will not allow the parts to adhere together.

Painting:

-Feel free to do whatever you feel would be best, but here is the strategy I like to employ when painting.

-First sand your hilt with 60 grit sandpaper to knock down some of the layer lines or larger bumps.

-Spray down all the parts with Filler primer (be sure to tape off the thread section and don’t paint it)

-Sand with 220 grit sandpaper and clean off the dust from sanding, spray with filler primer again.

-Sand to at least 400 grit sand paper, clean off the dust from sanding then spray with a gloss black enamel paint.

-Finish the hilt with your favorite colors of rub-n-buff (recommended) or high-quality metallic paints.

-Seal your finish with quality gloss coat (preferably lacquer), then weather using dry-brushing metals or black or brown washes.

-Add leather wraps by cutting strips, sanding the paint off the area where the leather will be and using superglue to adhere the leather to the plastic as super glue adheres very well to the hilt material.

Electronics:

-The button ports are made to fit 12mm switches sold by most lightsaber companies that sell electronics such as the Custom Saber Shop

-The lower set screws in the piece above your switch section are meant to secure your LED so that it doesn’t move.

-The top section of your hilt is hollowed out to fit 1” diameter blades and 1” diameter LEDs, whereas the rest of the hilt has a 29mm hollowed section to be able to house electronics to bring your hilt to life!

-You will be able to fit most standard electronics! And look out for our company bringing you affordable electronics options in the future!

-Every hilt comes standard with pommels vented for sound should you choose to install a speaker, and dual bladed hilts have vents in their couplers!

Enjoy and may the force be with you!
